Steve Parker brings over 25 years of highly successful corporate, start-up, and entrepreneurial experience to Biochar Systems. His background includes a decade of Fortune 500 consumer package goods marketing and two startups that returned over 10X invested capital to investors. Currently, Steve is CEO of EcoTechnologies Group and a co-founder of Biochar Systems. He has an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago (Beta Gamma Sigma) and a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia.

Jim Fournier has been involved with biochar since 2004 and is founder and CEO of Biochar Engineering and a cofounder of Biochar Systems. An entrepreneur and award-winning industrial designer with a background in physical science, Jim left MIT to found a design firm, owned and operated an international consumer products design and manufacturing company for 10 years, developed 3D software as a Geometry Partner with SGI, and cofounded Planetwork, a non-profit focused on global ecology and information technology in San Francisco.

Jeff Wallin – Jeff’s varied professional career includes raising and allocating over $30 million for several U.S. real estate projects with a real estate investment boutique, as well as with an eco-minded real estate development company. With his penchant for new business challenges, a deep concern for the environment and a specialized skill set for understanding and executing on strategic initiatives and projects, Jeff is responsible for heading strategic partnerships. These include new technologies, projects and by-product sales, as well as continuously bringing meaningful and valuable partnerships and alliances to the company.

Lopa Brunjes has a diverse professional background that includes work in insurance, social work, and futures & options. She incorporates big-picture thinking and attention to detail with a passion for science, sustainable business, and policy to execute strategies that benefit company and industry alike. She has been dedicated to biochar for 2 years, is Executive Vice President of Biochar Engineering and a co-founder of Biochar Systems. Lopa studied Molecular Biology and Liberal Arts at Colorado State University, and won an R.W. Emerson Award for introducing bioluminescence into pea plants.

Jeff Burkland has over 15 years of business experience in finance, operations, marketing and technology management. He has provided strategic and tactical financial support; business plan development; market research and sales and marketing strategy; operational process improvement for early-stage and high-growth companies; and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts for client companies of all sizes. Jeff graduated with honors in electrical engineering and economics at Duke University; and studied business at Harvard and international finance at Oxford University.

Doug Guyer - Chief Marketing Officer EcoTech - Doug has over 25 years of experience in Business to Business Marketing, Consumer Marketing, as well as Product Sampling Marketing with International Direct Response (IDR), the firm that he co-founded in 1984 with his father Dick Guyer. As CMO for Biochar Systems, he is responsible for establishing and managing the marketing, advertising, public relations and channel management strategies. Doug earned his B.S. degree in Marketing from Boston College, where he attended on a football scholarship and was then drafted.

Fernando Migliassi - Chief Corporate Development Officer EcoTech- Fernando has a diverse background of entrepreneurial and financial industry experience including a combined 20 years with two of the U.S.’s top asset management companies, a real estate investment boutique and most recently with two carbon conversion start-ups. In his roles with Biochar Systems and EcoTechnologies Group, Fernando is responsible for analyzing and implementing new business initiatives as well as building out the fulfillment platform of each firm to support the companies internal and client growth. Mr. Migliassi holds an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Erika Rand - Creative Director, has devoted her life to propagating social change solutions via global media–branding, web + print design, and filmmaking. She recently directed a short film on climate change with the Alliance for Climate Education. She was a Film Curator for TED’s Pangea Day, an international peaceful day of film, which appeared on millions of screens around the world. She has done branding and web + print design for companies including Banana Republic, evo.com, Harmony Festival, Jack Morton Worldwide, Martha Stewart Living, McCann Erickson, and videothevote.org.
